The Rebel’s Rebellion
By: Vigilante

Audio Video

I am Vigilante and this is my Rebellion. First and foremost, just like you, I’m an individual. And as an individual I am rebelling against that which surrounds me everyday…and that’s conformity. I am rebelling against it because I despise it. I despise it because conformity despises individuality, and as an individual, I take that as a threat. And you better believe that anything that threatens my individuality…I’m going to confront. In my life, every time I turn around there is always someone or something urging me to conform and just go with the flow. But God didn’t put me here to just go with the flow or to be like everybody else. God put me here and has equipped me with everything I need, every talent, ability, and passion to do one thing…to change the world. And that’s the same reason why you’re here…to change the world. See that’s the one thing that we’ve all got in common. So how the heck are we supposed to go about doing that? We are to do it by fulfilling the individual purpose that He has assigned us. And that’s the one thing that separates us from everybody else. That’s what makes us who we are. That’s what makes us an individual. And that is why we must not conform. To do so is to forsake ourselves, our Purpose, and the One who has put us here to fulfill it.

I have come to discover that conformity and the conformists that promote it are relentless in their efforts. In my experience I have witnessed how successful they are in their pursuits because of their relentlessness. But as relentless as they may be my resistance to them is even more so. It has to be because conformists love company and they hate watching those of us that have the courage to be who we are and to do that which we were put here to do. They hate it because it brings to light and reminds them of how they were unable to stand up and be themselves. To resist a conformist is to hold a mirror to their face and force them to look into the eyes of a coward.

I am also vigilant in my resistance because conformity is most often deceptive. It deceives us by persuading us to make subtle compromises. But see, no one likes to think of themselves as a compromising person so they rationalize their decisions until they reach a point of justification. They justify their reasons for their cowardice or their lack of moral integrity. Because lets face it, who wants to think of themselves as a sellout? Last I checked…nobody. But if you compromise who it is that you are, what you believe, your values just to make somebody happy or just to go with the flow…then that’s exactly what you are…a sellout. Therefore we must always be aware of who it is that we are and what God has put us here to do. But we must also be aware of our surrounding and who we surround ourselves with. Because if we’re not, all it takes is one wrong turn to eventually end up lost. And when we compromise who it is that we are, lost is exactly where we end up.

This is my Rebellion. This is my uprising against the standards and stereotypes our society, our culture, our peers, and our circumstances bombard us with every day encouraging us to forsake who it is that we are for who it is they tell us to be. A Rebellion against the standards our society has determined for us to aspire to if we are to reach the status that others may consider us successful. Because what they claim to be successful is not significant. Significance is only acquired when an individual embraces who it is that they are and fulfills what God has put them here to do. And no significant individual is a conformist. A conformist is nothing more than a sell out that has created the façade of success. The Rebel’s Rebellion is marched by the individual against conformity and those conformists who attempt to deter us, as individuals, from who it is that we are and what we’ve been put here to do.

I am Vigilante and I am an Individual. I not only march for but I proudly march alongside anyone who refuses to give in to their compromising circumstances and surroundings. This is not a passive Rebellion and I am not a passive individual. To pursue the purpose that we’ve been put here to fulfill and to refuse those who try to deter us, confrontation is inevitable. But let me tell you…I’m going to embrace it with open arms…will you?
